Don Peters was part of bodybuilding Muscle beach crowd in Venice, California in the sixties. Don Peters was born on 5th August 1931 and spent a lifetime training in California until he died on March 16, 2001. You might have heard stories about how Don and Arnold would fight over women, most of them are true, they stood onstage together as well.

Don was a skilled artisan and designed and built some exceptional pieces of furniture as well as his well-known home gym. Everything Don did he did well and as correctly as he could. He took his bodybuilding and his diet very seriously and won Mr. Venice in 1966 as well as Mr. America, Mr. International and Mr. Universe, he competed for nearly 20 years.

Don Peters Workout Routine

Below is the training routine he would do. Don believed in hard training with plenty volume and would not rest the usual 2 to 3 minutes between sets. Don would push himself to failure and spend two gut wrenching hours trying to stay in that training zone. Below is a copy of the kind of sets, reps and movements he would do.

Monday, Thursday and Saturday Lats and Arms:
Wide-grip chins 5 X 6-8 reps
Cable rowing 5 X 10 reps
D/B Pullovers 5 X 10 reps
Lat Pulley Pullins 5 X 10 reps
Incline D/B Curls 5 X 10 reps
Preacher curls 4 X 10 reps
Gironda bench curls 4 X 10 reps
Concentration Curls 4 X 10 reps
One arm triceps press 6 X 10 reps
Triceps ext. on a long pull 5 X 10 reps
Triceps ext. on a lat. bar 5 X 10 reps
Reverse grip press 5 X 10 reps

Tuesday and Friday: Chest and Shoulders:
Decline D/B press 5 X 10 reps
Decline pulley flys 5 X 10 reps
Reverse grip dips 5 X 8-10 reps
Incline Pulley flys 5 X 8-10 reps
Seated D/B press 6 X 10 reps
Seated B/B press 5 X 6-10 reps
Standing D/B lateral raises 5 X 10 reps
Alternate front D/B raises 5 X 10 reps
One-arm D/B incline raises 4 X 10 reps
